Food and Spirituality

I'm a very open minded person so this is going to be a more "controversial" post but today I was in the kitchen making falafel for the first time. I was cutting up the onions and it made me wonder what the spiritual properties of onions where? I mean I'm no wiccan but spells sometimes consist of food elements, and in my personal opinion all spells are are symbolic elements or elements with properties put together to make a desired outcome. So doesn't what we put in our body have properties of say a symbolic or magical nature? Could in theory we change our life or manifest something we want through what we eat and (again in theory) amplify this effect due to foods affect on our aura/energetic field.

Pride

It is better to lose your pride with someone you love rather than to lose that someone you love with your useless pride.

According to Buddism, Buddha was able to destroy the four "Maras". The four "Maras" are death, distraction, pride, and emotional obscurations. These are very powerful things and it takes an even more powerful person to overcome them. I'm sure that all the Maras are extremely important but the one that stuck out at me most was pride.
In today's society it seems that everyone is ran by their ego which handicaps our experience of life. How can you live to the fullest when you shut down great opportunities in order to protect our pride? I know that if I wasn't so fearful of getting humiliated or being rejected it, life is a never ending hallway. Sure we may meet some dead ends but we'll also discover amazing opportunities and people.
As human's we cannot be perfect and it is easy to fall into the trap of sheilding our pride but we can ease our learned habit and allow our walls to lower. For example instead of staying to yourself in a place you don't know anyone, dare to introduce yourself and spark a conversation with someone (better yet do it with someone you wouldn't usually talk to).

Question: What are you scared socially?

What is Mind Seeds?

Mind seeds are ideas or concepts that can grow in your mind, thought being the sunshine and experience being the water that allow it to transform into action, habit, or belief. I would like to note here that just like with anything else in life some things die before they even have a chance to grow and that isn't necessarily bad. Everything I put up on this blog is up for discussion, interpretation, acceptance, or even rejection. It is ultimately up to you and the last thing I wish is to force an idea on anyone or for them to even have the faintest feeling of such (this may seem ridiculous but if any line makes you feel uncomfortable please contact me about it and I will try my best to put it in a more nonthreatening way).
My purpose for this blog is to write about things that could ultimately help change people for the better or give motivation to live life in a better way. For example sometimes I live my life mindlessly but after I read a book about how love and compassion can change the world I suddenly feel motivated to incorporate it into my everyday attitude and actions more then I currently do. I hope that readers will feel the same after reading some if not all of these blog posts and maybe even adapt a new perspective on life.
If you have any questions don't be afraid to speak up because no matter what it is I'm willing to help in any way that I'm able.
Just as a note I would like to add that I will be trying to write more posts and my goal is to have at least one a week if not more.

Survey: What topics would you like to see discussed in this blog?

Spiritual Journal

Over the past few weeks I've been writing about my experience in each of my meditations. It felt really good to write down each symbol I came across and the more I wrote about it the more I was able to reflect on it. For example I saw a reflection in a spoon that I just found lovely and it wasn't until I had written in my journal that I realized I was looking at myself! Things like this can be a huge step in your spiritual process and understanding. After about three entries of meditation I got really interested in Chakras. It seemed so natural to write notes on the chakras in my spiritual notebook and then to continue to record how my progress with them went as I used the meditative exercises I found. Later on I even began to write down my thoughts about spirituality, my concerns, my goals, my fears, all of it piled into this notebook. I wrote how certain energy made me feel and talked about the things that called to me. I even recorded observations I made about myself and behavior through the day such as one morning where I was feeling especially grounded and I talked about what that meant to me (how I felt, ect).

A spiritual journal/diary/book of some sort can be a great tool in helping you understand yourself and even find patterns and messages that you may have missed out on without it. Any notebook will do but I do think one that "calls" to you will be the best. I use one that is sort of small compared to a composition notebook because its easier to fit in my bags, carry with me, and just overall seems more personal. It doesn't have to be fancy but based on experience I would recommend not using the computer because writing with a pen or pencil is so much more personal and allows you more time to soak in what you're writing.

If you decide to start one tell me how it helps you? If it worked for you? Your thoughts? Improvements you made? Hell even your template if you want to be elaborate? (By the way this is not me asking you to share the personal items that you have with in the notebook, those are very sensitive and are for your eyes only, but I'm asking about your experience with the tool)
